Opportunità di lavoro

Postdoctoral positions are available to work on mosquitoes in two broad study areas: 1) the function of the gut microbiota in development and vector competency, and 2) how hormones regulate female reproduction and certain features of the immune system.

A background in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or development is desirable as is an interest in insect biology.  Specific study areas include the characterization of the gut microbial community in different mosquito species using sequencing and culture-based approaches, analyzing how gut microbes affect growth and metabolism, and studying how particular peptide hormones interact with their receptors to regulate reproductive, growth, and immune functions.  Successful candidates will also have latitude to creatively work in other areas including life history evolution.  We will work with candidates to develop projects that play to professional strengths and that facilitate learning new approaches and perspectives.  We also have a strong history of career development that has enabled candidates to secure future positions in a range of professional directions.
